About us

The Bexleyheath and Welling Branch of The Royal British Legion, is a relatively new one. It was formed by the amalgamation of The Bexleyheath branch, and the East Wickham and Welling Branch, only a few years ago. This was due to falling membership numbers. The branch still only has a few members, currently around 30, but with the help of recent and forthcoming events, plus the introduction of this website, we are looking to increase our membership.

The committee and active members of the branch realise the need to expand and move with current times. We fully appreciate that the younger generations of today, are the Legion of the future. Hence the introduction of this website, plus email contacts for the relevant committee members.

The branch itself, has a diverse age range within its members, ranging from teenagers through to 90's. We understand that not everyone is as regimented as the soldiers that fought so valiantly for our Country. We hold our regular branch meetings every last Tuesday of each month, but these are not always a set format. We are looking to at least have one social meeting, every quarter. As well as organising a regular social event for the branch. Details of these meetings or events will be posted on the relevant pages, so keep looking back for updates.

It is a common misconception, that to become a member of The Royal British Legion, you need to have served in the Armed Forces. This is not the case. Anyone can join The Royal British Legion.
