Poppy Appeal November 2008
The Branch recently held it's Annual Poppy Appeal collections in Bexleyheath and Welling, and also assisted in the Sidcup area.
A final figure of in excess of £45,000 was raised.
The Branch would like to thank all of the people who took time out to help us with the collections this year. Unfortunately this year we have been short on collectors, mainly due to ill health, so the Branch concentrated on the second week of the Poppy Appeal.
The Branch would especially like to thank our former Secretary Jo Symonds and her friend Dennis for all the hard work they have put in over the last few weeks.
We would also like to thank those who helped in Asda's and The Mall in Bexleyheath.

The Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance - The Royal Albert Hall - Saturday November 8th
A few members of the Branch attended this years Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall. The Branch Chairman had this to say. "I have been lucky enough to have attended a few Festivals and taken part in two of them, and each year it keeps getting better and better. I felt this year was more moving than ever, combining events from both World Wars, along with today's conflicts."
If anyone missed the Festival of Remembrance, a video or DVD is available and can be ordered by sending a cheque, made payable to The Royal British Legion Trading, for £9.99 specifying if you prefer a DVD or video to:
Wendy Shone, Poppy Appeal, The Royal British Legion Village, Aylesford, Kent, ME20 7NX.

Danson Festival - 5th & 6th July 2008
The Branch recently hosted a stand at the Danson Festival, at Danson Park, Bexleyheath. The stand was supported by the Poppy Appeal, The South East County committee and The South East County Women's Section. The objective of the stand was to make the public aware of our branch, the forthcoming Poppy Appeal, and to highlight the Legion's current campaign to Honour the Covenant. (see the Links page for more on Honour the Covenant).
The stand was very well attended by not only members, but by members of the public, some of which showed interest in joining the branch, and helping us grow for the future. The weather was kind to us in the end, the heavy rain that was originally forecast, stayed away. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that we were next door to a tent organised by one of the local churches.
Over the weekend a total of £497.43 was raised. The Branch would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to this amount.
