The Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance - The Royal Albert Hall - Saturday November 7th
A few members of the Branch attended this years Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall. The Branch Chairman had this to say. "This year's Festival was very poignant, not only due to the current conflicts being fought, but also due to the fact, that there are no more WWI veterans left. I have been lucky to attend the Festival for a few years now, and for the 1st time, at the end when the parade was dismissed, the whole Albert Hall was not only applauding the troops, but cheering them too. It goes to show that the public is being the troops."
Remembrance Sunday Service - St Michael's Church, Upper Wickham Lane - Sunday 8th November
Our annual Remembrance Service took place at St Michael's Church, Upper Wickham Lane, Welling. Followed by a short Memorial Service, at the Memorial outside the Church. The Exhortation and Kohima Epitaph were given by Branch President David Thynne. The Branch Wreaths were laid by Chairman Paul Grest and Poppy Appeal Organiser Jo Symonds. The Branch were delighted to welcome pupils from South Rise School in Plumstead, who laid a wreath on the School's behalf.

St Mary's Community Funday - Shoulder of Mutton Green, Welling - Saturday 20th June 2009
The Branch attended the Funday for the 1st time this year, and we are delighted to announce that we have raised £335. We decided to have a Tombola as our main fundraiser, along with a competition aimed mainly at the children, to guess how many Jelly Beans were in the Jar.
We would like to thank everyone who supported us on the day, and congratulations go to all those who won items on the Tombola. But the biggest congratulations go to Ryan Potter of Plumstead, who was the closest guess with the Jelly Beans. Well done Ryan. You can see Ryan being presented with his prize of the jar full of Jelly Beans on our pictures page, via the link at the bottom of this page.
The Branch would also like to thank all it's members who attended and helped out, with special thanks being given to our Secretary Marilyn Grest and member Paula Rylands, for organising the Tombola prizes, and the endless task of folding those tickets!! We would also like to say a big thank you to Eddie Gavan, who brought along a selection of his Memorablilia, and allowing several children to try on various items of clothing.
