Armed Forces Day - Woolwich Barracks - Saturday 25th June 2011

The Branch attended the Armed Forces Day at Woolwich Barracks, along with the other Borough Branches. Our new Marquee was used for the 1st time and we are really pleased with it. We received many positive comments about the Marquee and it will prove to be a valuable asset for the Branch. Our Branch Standard was part of the Veterans Parade which took place later in the day, as many Veterans paraded into the arena, joined by Lance Corporal Johnson Beharry VC.

Annual Civic Parade - Bexleyheath - Sunday 26th June 2011

The Branch was again represented at this years Annual Civic Parade in Bexleyheath. Several members from all three Borough Branches marched behind The Crayford Royal British Legion Band and Branch Standards, and were joined by other branch members at the Church service. This year, we played an important part of the Church service, as the old Standards from East Wickham and Welling, and Bexleyheath Branches, were laid up, and the new Standard for The Bexleyheath and Welling Branch was dedicated. We would like to thank The Mayor, Councillor Ray Sams, for allowing us to take part in the service. After the service, the parade marched back into Bexleyheath Broadway, where there was free entertainment laid on. The Branch was present with our Marquee in The Broadway. (pictures to follow).

Danson Festival - Danson Park Bexleyheath - Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd July 2011

This year the Branch celebrated The Legion's 90th Anniversary in style with a large stall at Danson Festival. We had a tombola which went so well that we cleared all of the prizes on the Saturday. We also had face painting for the children, and The Riders Branch joined us for the weekend as well. On the Sunday, due to the huge success of the tombola, our Chairman Paul Grest volunteered to have wet sponges thrown at him to raise money for our Shoebox Appeal.
